Celebrating the very best of Scotland…

scottish outdoor leisure

Last weekend we were lucky enough to be invited along to present an award, and celebrate the best of Scotland, at the Scottish Outdoor Leisure Awards Scotland. An awards ceremony that sets out to celebrate the very best in tourism, leisure and hospitality across Scotland.

It was an amazing night. And we’re proud to say that many of our very own customers were shortlisted for the awards. With some taking home the coveted top prize.

If you’re planning a staycation next year. Or if you are planning on visiting this beautiful country, you might want to take note. The awards celebrate the very best of Scotland and will give you an idea on where to stay and activities to put the top of your list.

The purpose of the Scottish Outdoor Leisure Awards…

Of course, the Scottish Outdoor Leisure awards celebrate the hard work and dedication of a relentless industry. But, it also plays a key fundraising role for charitable organisations, raising £2000 for NSPCC Scotland in 2016.

Upon arrival, we were really happy to be seated at a table with a representative from the 2017 charity partner ‘Big Impact’. They are a Scottish based organisation who work with charities and not for profits across Scotland. They provide support via charitable donations, and tangible support, to help them provide a better service to those that they are there for.  A really worthwhile cause and something that we were proud to be able to support with our attendance.

If there are any causes that are close to you, that you wish the Big Impact to support, then please get in touch on

The entertainment

No ball or gala would be complete without some kick-ass entertainment to go along with it. And The Scottish Outdoor Leisure awards was no exception. Packed full of musical and comedy guests to keep us entertained.

The night was hosted and kicked off by funny man, and Capital Radio host, Des Clarke. Des had the crowd doubled over with laughter and only got funnier as the night went on. I’m still not sure if that was down to our alcohol consumption, or his.

Our ears were also treated to the talents of the Glasgow University Big Band. Followed by local celeb, and former X Factor contestant, James Hughes. Who gave us a couple of classics, followed by a rendition of Proud Mary that had everyone singing along.

Scotlands answer to pitch perfect, Choral Stimulation, was next. Making music ‘with only their mouths’. And showing us what it takes to become an award-winning Acapella group.

Finally, the Glasgow University band came back on to play some classic songs, with a jazzy twist, that go the whole room up dancing.

And the winner is…

If you’re planning a staycation. Or looking at visiting the beautiful country that is Scotland soon, we recommend you check out this list. This is the very best of Scotland.
