Should i install a vinyl liner swimming pool?

Vinyl Liner pools are becoming more popular due to their simple construction and the ability to make them look like a traditional high end concrete pool - without the same price tag.

The base of a liner swimming pool can be built using steel panels or block-work. A vinyl sheet is then used to form a waterproof layer between the base and the water. The vinyl liner can be plain or patterned.

One the base is built, liner pools can take just a couple of days to install.

Smooth surfaces mean less nooks and crannies for bacteria and algae to hide in = lower maintance

Want a pool that looks tiled without the price tag? Liner pools may be a good option for you.

Should I install a liner pool?

There are a few advantages to installing a swimming pool.

  • Fast installation
  • Economical
  • Easy maintenance

How much does a liner swimming pool cost?

It’s impossible to give you an exact price for a liner swimming pool. BUT, that doesn’t mean that we won’t be able to give you an idea.

The size, style and specification of the swimming pool will vary the cost. But, on average a liner swimming pool will be between £75,000 and £110,000 (for a 10×4 swimming pool).

Yes, liners are made to size. So you can build the pool to whatever size you like and fit a liner over it.

Liners generally cost between £4000 and £7000 depending on the size and style.

On-site liners are more expensive than bag liners.

Liner pools are not usually suitable if you have animals using it.

And you need to be careful with vaccuum poles, toys and kids to make sure the liner is ripped.

Although the shell will last a long time, you may need to replace the swimming pool liner over the life of the pool.

A pool liner will last between 5 and 15 years depend on which method of install you choose.

One of the main problems with liner pools are that they are less durable than other pools as they are not solid surfaces.

Although there have been advancements in the liner technology and quality, you will have to be careful. The durability will depend on the quality of the liner and installation.

how does the liner installation work?

There are two main types of liner. Which one you go for will alter the price and the durability.:

1. Single piece “bag” liner.

The Single piece bag liner can be either plain or patterned. They come made to measure in one piece, and are usually 20 or 30 thou thickness.

These are placed in the pool, and attached into the liner track. A vacuum pulls the air out, while filling the pool with water pushes it against the side and holds it into position.

2. On-site liner

On site liners are generally thicker and more durable that bag liners.

They are installed on site in sections. And welded using a heat gun into position, providing a strong and durable liner for the pool.

Liner installation generally takes only a couple of days, and so is a really good option if you are looking for a fast pool installation.
